FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I set a reserve price on my consigned items?

Yes, you can discuss setting a reserve price with our team. A reserve ensures that your item will not be sold below a specified minimum price. A reserve can not be more than the low auction estimate.

How do I know the value of my items before consigning them?

Our experts provide complimentary auction valuations before sale. You can submit images and details through our online form above, and we'll assess the value of your items and advise you on the next steps.

How does the auction process work?

Once your items are consigned, they go through cataloguing, marketing, and then the auction itself which is streamed online to a global audience of buyers. We work to get the best possible price for your items through competitive bidding.

What are your selling fees?

Our standard commission rate is 15+VAT (18% total) and a £10+VAT entry fee per lot. There are no hidden charges. For larger and higher value consignments, we are happy to negotiate a more favourable rate.

How can I consign items to Aubreys Auctioneers?

You can consign items for sale in a number of ways. The easiest is to complete the form above or you can email images directly to info@aubreys.com. Feel free to contact us and we'll guide you through the process.

What types of items do you sell?

We specialise in jewellery, silver, watches, art, and antiques. Please contact us to discuss the specific items you're interested in consigning.

I have a whole house full of items - can you help?

I'm dealing with a deceased estate can you help?

Yes. We are experts in probate estates. Please contact us to discuss your requirements further.

What is the timeline for the auction process?

We hold auctions every month so you never have to wait long for a sale.

What marketing and promotion will my items receive?

We utilise multiple marketing channels, including online bidding platforms, social media, traditional media and direct and indirect marketing to promote your items and ensure they receive maximum exposure to potential buyers.

How and when do I get paid for the items sold?

Once your items are sold, you will receive payment by banks transfer 2 weeks after the auction, assuming items have been been paid for by the buyer. Our team will provide you with detailed information on the payment process.

Is there a minimum value requirement for consigning items?

While we don't have a strict minimum value, we generally focus on items worth £200 and over. Feel free to reach out, and we can discuss your items in more detail and sometimes lower value items can be grouped together.

Are there any restrictions on the condition of my items?

While we prefer items in good condition, we assess each item individually. Contact us to discuss the specifics of your items.

What happens if my items don't sell at auction?

If an item does not sell, we would usually recommend reducing the reserve by 30-50% and re-enter it in the next suitable auction. Alternatively you are welcome to collect any unsold items. Our team will work with you to find the best solution.

Can I withdraw my items before the auction?

In certain situations, withdrawals may be possible, however it is likely that a withdrawal fee would be payable to cover our work carried out. Please contact us as soon as possible in this situation to discuss it further.
