We are delighted to announce that our upcoming auction on February 27th will feature a stunning painting by the renowned British artist Mary Fedden. Recently consigned by Aubreys, this vibrant work captures a warm and dynamic scene of rooftops, bathed in rich shades of oranges and reds. The bold, expressive use of colour and striking composition exemplify Fedden’s unique ability to transform everyday scenes into captivating and lively masterpieces.
Painted in 1961, and purchased in 1962 from the Ashgate Gallery by Sir Robert Braithwaite Marshall, who passed away in 2000, this exceptional piece comes directly from his estate, passed down through his family. Born in Kent on January 10, 1920, the son of an officer in the Indian Civil Service, he spent much of his childhood in Switzerland. Later in life, he became the chairman of Farnham Art College.
